Crantz, is an oilseed plant native to the eastern Mediterranean and Central Asia. Camelina seeds contain 29-39% oil. Interest in Camelina centers on potential food uses due to the high linolenic acid (35-40% of the oil) content, which also makes it suitable for painting and coating applications.
